Doris Gene Davis, 82, of Allegheny Township died on Sunday, September 09, 2012 in her son Jack's home.

Born on September 13, 1929 in Apollo, she was a daughter of the late Blaine L. and Elverda May (Bash) Conner.

A 1947 graduate of Elders Ridge High School, Doris lived in Allegheny Township since 1955 where she and husband Jack owned and operated the Davis Bait and Tackle Shop in Leechburg. Doris was a real people person, and continued the business after Jack's passing for 28 more years before retiring in 2011.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church and former member of the Kiski Valley CBer's where her handle was "Queen of Hearts".

Doris enjoyed ceramics, playing bingo and cards and traveling the country with her late husband in their motor home.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack R. Davis in 1983; brother, Lawrence Blaine Conner, Jr. and sisters, Myrtle S. Bowman, Linda Fleeger and Joyce Ann Held.

Survivors include her sons, Jack R. (Kathleen) Davis of Burrell Township and Larry A. (Marsha) Davis, of Allegheny Township; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and her close companion for the past 25 years, Robert Moore and his daughter Debbie.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 12th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Avenue, Apollo. A Celebration of Life Tribute Service in honor of Doris will be held on Thursday, September 13th at 11 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the charity of one's choice in Doris's memory.
