Eleanore McGranahan, 92, of Vandergrift, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, in the St. Anne Home, Greensburg. Born on June 22, 1918 in Vandergrift, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin McClure and Jessie (Myers) Means Jr.
Eleanore lived in Vandergrift her entire life, and was a 1936 graduate of Vandergrift High School. She was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church and its Rosary Society, and the Catholic Daughters of America.She was also a member of the Vandergrift And East Vandergrift Senior Citizens.
She was a homemaker, enjoying baking and gardening. Eleanore was an avid reader, and enjoyed walking, listening to music, and working on crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Friendly Eights card club for over 60 years. Eleanore also liked traveling to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: John P. McGranahan Jr. on June 26, 2007; three sisters: Helen Norberg, Ruth Reese, Lucille Cunningham; and three brothers Paul, Kenneth & William Means.
She is survived by her children: Karen E. Guiser of Pittsburgh, PA; Barbara J. McGranahan of Chino Hills, CA; Thomas M. (Daisy) McGranahan, of Covina, CA; John P. McGranahan III, of Vandergrift, PA; and Susan C.(Will) Marquez, of Fontana, CA; Grandchildren: Rhonda "Ronnie" (Brian)Watt, Eric Nabors, Michael McGranahan, Shaun McGranahan; step grandchildren, John ( Francine) Guiser, Susan (Gary) Heaston, Christine (John) Cushman; great-grandchildren: Karissa, Lauryn and Justin. She is also survived by two nieces and a nephew.
Friends will be received on Sunday, December 12, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM at the Brady-Curran Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 429 Franklin Avenue Vandergrift, PA 15690. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 13, at 10:00 a.m. in St Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, Vandergrift, with Father James Loew O.S.B as celebrant. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo.
